Starting with Google Services, students will receive an email during the third week of the second consecutive quarter (excluding summer quarter) in which the individual is not registered as a student. The email will tell the individual they will have 14 days before their account is no longer accessible. Information on the timeline for Google Services can be found in the following link:

A person's UW NetID has no expiration date. You can still use forward your UW email address to your own personal email address. However, services provided by UW IT in many cases expire after 2 quarters of not being enrolled excluding summer quarter. More information can be found in the following link:

A student's profile in Canvas is automatically deleted once the following conditions are met:


  • User is no longer associated with any course.
  • User is no longer an active faculty, student, or staff.
  • User has been separated from the university for a year or more.
